Arroyo, Nicolás

(1918–2008)
A Washington, D.C., architect, Arroyo had been a leading modernist architect in pre-Castro Cuba. With Gabriela Menendez y Garcia Beltran, his wife and professional partner of more than 60 years, he designed several prominent modernist buildings in Cuba, including the Havana Hilton Hotel, known as the Habana Libre following the 1959 revolution; the Teatro Nacional; and the Ciudad Deportiva sports complex.
