Born Dec. 23, 1907, in Tambov. Soviet linguist, specialist in the Tungus-Manchu languages. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1964).
Avrorin graduated from the department of history and ethnology of Leningrad State University in 1930. His main works are The Grammar of the Nanai Language (vols. 1–2, 1959–61) and Languages and Folklore of the Peoples of the Siberian North (1966).
