Aydelotte, Frank
(1880–1956) college president, foundation officer; born in Sullivan, Ind. As president (1921–40) he developed Swarthmore (Pa.) College into an academically outstanding institution with innovations like an honors program. He was director of the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton (1940–47). Long associated with the Rhodes Trust, he planned the Guggenheim Awards and Commonwealth Fellowships.
