Backward Erosion

Backward Erosion

 

(also retrogressive erosion), the erosion of rock caused by flowing water, which results in a deepening, cutting back, and lengthening of a stream’s channel from its mouth in the direction of its source.

Fluvial erosion, through backward erosion combined with a periglaciar intense activity, determined these types of crests (in Papusa-Batrana-Rosu-Mount Vacarea crest-Crucea Ateneului-Iezerul Mare-Iezerul Mic).
