or Bedde, a people inhabiting the area around the city of Nafada on the middle course of the Gongola River in Nigeria. The Bade and related tribes—the Bolewa (formerly Boslawaand Anpika), Karekare, Ngizim, and Tangale—have a population of about 500,000 (1967 estimate). The Bade language belongs to the Hausa group. The religion is Islam. The Bade are undergoing a process of assimilation with the Hausa, to whom they are very close in culture and religion. Their chief occupations are agriculture and cattle raising.
