Bailey, Mildred

Bailey, Mildred (b. Rinker)

(1907–51) jazz musician; born in Tekoa, Wash. A prototypical jazz singer, she was featured with Paul Whiteman, Benny Goodman, and Red Norvo, and recorded with numerous all-star groups between 1929–48.
