Balagansk

 

an urban-type settlement in Ust’-Uda Raion, Irkutsk Oblast, RSFSR. It has a harbor on the left shore of the Angara, 78 km northeast of the Zalari railroad station (on the Taishet-Irkutsk line). Population in 1968, 4,900. There is lumber industry there, including a timber industry enterprise and a timber chemical plant. Other industry consists of a creamery and a fish-processing plant.
