Balakhta

 

an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Balakhta Raion, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR. It is located on the Chulym River (a tributary of the Ob’), 124 km east of the Uzhur railroad station (on the Achinsk-Abakan line). Population in 1968, 8,500. Balakhta’s industry includes a creamery, motor transport enterprises, and a mechanized land-reclamation station.
