Balčikonis, Juozas Frantsevich

 

Born Mar. 25, 1885, in ėriskei, present-day Panėvezė Raion; died Feb. 5, 1969, in Vilnius. Soviet linguist specializing in Baltic languages; member of the Academy of Sciences of the Lithuanian SSR (1946). He was one of the authors of the 15-volume Academy edition of Dictionary of the Lithuanian Language (1941–62).
