The Fleetwood Town boss, 36, is accused of physically assaulting Barnsley coach Daniel Stendel who was left with facial injuries following a fracas in the South Yorkshire club's tunnel, police said.
Barton has "emphatically denied" accusations that he confronted Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel in the tunnel following the League One match.
