Bashanta

 

an urban-type settlement (since 1971, the city of Gorodovikovsk) and center of Gorodvikovsk Raion in the westernmost part of Kalmyk ASSR. Situated 60 km southeast of the Sal’sk railroad junction and 240 km southwest of Elista, it has a population of 7,500 (1968). Its industries include the food industry—a creamery, a food combine, and the like. Bashanta also has a brick factory, a factory for Biomycin feed, and a sovkhoz technicum.
