Batagai

 

an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Verkhoiansk Raion, Yakut ASSR. It is a pier on the right bank of the Iana River, 90 km below Verkhoiansk. Population, 10,000 (1968). A factory for the concentration of tin ores (ores from the Ese-Khaiia deposits) and a building-materials enterprise are located there.
