By November 1940--some five months after Lord
Beaverbrook's appointment--the magnificent seven were living in boxcars at a place in Newfoundland called Hattie's Camp.
However, by depicting Hitler as a figure of fun, Low may have inadvertently, to
Beaverbrook's possible relief, made him appear less threatening to those that saw him in his cartoons, compared with, say, other cartoonists.
Peter was also earning an honest crust from Lord
Beaverbrook who was determined not to be scooped by another newspaper with news of Churchill's death.
He was perceived as a `Busted Flush' as
Beaverbrook called him at the time.
