Beijerinckia

A genus of bacteria in the family Azotobacteraceae; slightly curved or pear-shaped rods with large, refractile lipoid bodies at the ends of the cell.

Beijerinckia, Curvibacter, Pelomonas, and Rhodoferax occurred in high counts in both phenological stages.
These bacteria are of beneficial agricultural importance and belong to the genera Acetobacter, Acinetobacter, Alcaligenes, Arthrobacter, Azoarcus, Azospirillum, Azotobacter, Bacillus, Beijerinckia, Burkholderia, Derxia, Enterobacter, Gluconacetobacter, Klebsiella, Ochrobactrum, Pseudomonas, Rhodococcus, Serratia, Zoogloea, etc (Singh et al., 2011).

Eight different nitrogen-free media (Jensen's medium; Burk's medium; nitrogen-free agar (NFA); medium for Klebsiella and Enterobacter (KE); medium for Derxia; medium for Beijerinckia; Dobereiner's medium; LGI) were used for maximum diversity.
