Belaia Kalitva

 

a city, (until 1958 a settlement) in Rostov Oblast, RSFSR. A port on the Severskii Donets River at the confluence of the Kalitva River. A railroad station on the Likhaia-Volgograd line. Population, 30,000 (1969). Economic activities include the mining of coal and stone, light industry and food industries, production of building materials, a metallurgical plant, and a polytechnical technicum.
