Beloostrov

 

an urban-type settlement in Leningrad Oblast, RSFSR, on the Karelian Isthmus. Its railroad station is 32 km northwest of Leningrad. Population, 2,100 (1969). V. I. Lenin stayed briefly in Beloostrov several times while passing through. On Apr. 3 (16), 1917, while returning to Russia from emigration, he was met here by a delegation of Petrograd and Sestroretsk workers led by members of the central committee and the Petrograd committee of the RSDLP (Bolshevik).
