Berezan Estuary
The following article is from The Great Soviet Encyclopedia (1979). It might be outdated or ideologically biased.
Berezan’ Estuary
a gulf in the northwestern part of the Black Sea (Nikolaev Oblast, Ukrainian SSR). It is 26 km long and approximately 3 km wide in the south. The entrance into the estuary is reduced to a width of 640 m by the Berezan’ and Lagernaia sandbars. The Berezan’ estuary reaches 3.2 m in depth and is divided into two gulfs: Berezan’ Gulf in the east and Sasik Gulf in the west. The Berezan’ and Sasik rivers, which dry up in the summer, empty into the upper reaches of the gulfs.
