Blagopoluchie Bay

 

a fjordlike bay in the Kara Sea, near the eastern shore of the northern island of Novaia Zemlia. The bay is about 11 km long, 7 km wide at the mouth, and has a maximum depth of 165 m. It is ice-bound for most of the year. It was discovered in 1921 by the Soviet hydro-graphic expeditionary force aboard the ship Taimyr.
