Boker, George Henry

Boker, George Henry

(1823–90) playwright, poet, diplomat; born in Philadelphia. His romantic tragedies were among the few such plays to be successful. Most popular was his Francesca da Rimini (1855). He also served as envoy to Turkey and Russia.
