Bori

a village in Zestafoni Raion, Georgian SSR, near the site where a complex of objects from the late classical era was found in the early 20th century. (The finds are now in the Hermitage Museum.) Further research established that this was the site of a burial ground dating from the first centuries A.D. Iron weapons, gold jewelry, and silver and bronze dishes were found. Similar objects had been found in the second- and third-century tombs in Mtskheta and Zugdidi. One silver dish found in Bori bears an inscription in Aramaic identifying it as the property of the pitiakhsh (regional ruler) Buzmikhr, whose name appears in the genealogy of the fifth-century Georgian church figure Petr Iver.
