Bowen, Louise deKoven
(1859–1953) philanthropist, social reformer; born in Chicago. As a youth she enjoyed the privileges of wealth; as an adult she wielded her inheritance to ameliorate social conditions. As Woman's Club director, treasurer, and later president (1893–1944) of Hull House, she created a vital link between Chicago's wealthy and the city's social welfare network.
