In north-central FL between Gainesville and Jacksonville; organized as New River County Dec 21, 1858; name changed Dec 6, 1861. Name Origin: For Capt. Richard Bradford (1839?-61), the first Florida officer killed in the Civil War

On northern border of PA, northwest of Scranton; organized as Ontario County Feb 10, 1810 from Luzerne and Lycoming counties. Name Origin: For William Bradford (1755-95), associate justice of the PA supreme court (1791) and U.S. attorney general (1794-95). Name changed Mar 24, 1812 from Ontario (named for the lake)
