Brauer, Georg Konstantinovich

 

Born in 1816, in Königsberg; died Mar. 1 (13), 1882, in Kronstadt. Russian mechanical engineer and optician.

Brauer studied in an optical-mechanics workshop in St. Petersburg. Beginning in 1845 he was a mechanical engineer in the optical-mechanical workshop of the Pulkovo Observatory; later he worked in the physics laboratory at the University of St. Petersburg. He made highly precise astronomical and geodetic instruments.
