Meissner, Bruno

 

Born Apr. 25, 1868, in Graudenz; died Mar. 13, 1947, in Zeuthen. German Assyriologist.

Beginning in 1904, Meissner was a professor in Breslau (Wroclaw), and beginning in 1921, in Berlin. His principal works dealt with Babylono-Assyrian history, literature, law, art, and language.

Preparation of the Reallexikon der Assyriologie und Vorderasiatischen Archdologie (RIA) was begun in 1922 by Bruno Meissner, soon joined as editor by Erich Ebeling.
