Burke, Charles Henry

Burke, Charles Henry

(1861–1944) U.S. representative; born in Batavia, N.Y. A homesteader, lawyer, and realtor, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives (Rep., S.D.; 1899–1907, 1909–15). He became Commissioner of Indian Affairs (1921–29), and returned to dealing in real estate afterward.
