Cádiz, Gulf of
an open gulf of the Atlantic Ocean at thesouthwestern coast of the Iberian Peninsula. It washes the low-lying, mildly jagged shores of Spain and Portugal. The gulf is upto 100 m deep. High tide occurs twice a day and measures upto 3 m. The Guadiana and Guadalquivir rivers empty into thegulf. The principal port on the gulf is Vila Real de Santo Antonio (Portugal).
