Calmalloy
The following article is from The Great Soviet Encyclopedia (1979). It might be outdated or ideologically biased.
Calmalloy
a thermomagnetic nickel-based alloy containing 30 percent copper.
Calmalloy is characterized by linear magnetization depend-ence on temperature between 20° and 80°C. The temperaturecoefficient of magnetization is 0.8 × 10-4 tesla per °C; thesaturation magnetization is 0.01 tesla at 20°C. Calmalloy is usedin electric metering devices (galvanometers, energy meters) aspermanent magnetic shunts for reducing the instrument temper-ature error.
