Location:7 miles east of Fort Myers, Florida.
Activities:Canoeing, kayaking, fishing, wildlife watching.
Special Features:Refuge is located adjacent to Florida Power and Light Company's Orange River power plant. Warm water discharge from the power plant attracts manatees during the cool winter months.
Habitats: 40 acres consisting of three mangrove islands covered with fresh and brackish water vegetation.
Access: By boat only.
Wild life: West Indian manatee, wood stork, eastern indigo snake, American crocodile, and bald eagle. Site also provides roosting habitat for a wide diversity of shore birds, wading birds, waterfowl, raptors, and neotropical migratory bird species.
