The Coastal GasLink Pipeline Project will have an initial capacity of approximately 2.1 billion cubic feet (bcf)/day with the potential for expansion of up to approximately 5 bcf/day, providing natural gas from the Western
Canadian basin in northeast B.C.
The upper ocean in the
Canadian Basin has seen a two-fold increase in heat over the last 30 years.
Petrox is engaged in the exploration and development of oil and natural gas resources in the Western
Canadian Basin. Petrox has assembled approximately 32 sections of 100% working interest lands in the emerging Viking light oil play in the Halkirk and Battle areas of central Alberta.
Seasonal vertical distribution of copepods in the Arctic water of the
Canadian Basin of the North Polar Sea.
"A remarkable 20% of the
Canadian Basin has become more corrosive to carbonate minerals in an unprecedented short period of time," said US Geological Survey oceanographer, Lisa Robbins.
"We've seen that there is the potential for $10 billion in cost savings to existing shippers in the Western
Canadian Basin as well as potential cost savings for shippers of Alaskan gas.
An ice island slowly describes a circle within the
Canadian Basin where the present IOEB study is concentrated.
Freshwater input to the Arctic Ocean is important for the development of stratification in the water column, and the eastward redirection of the Russian river water resulted in a reduction in stratification in the Eurasian Basin and an increased stratification in the
Canadian Basin. Specifically, instead of entering the surface Transpolar Drift to exit the Arctic Ocean within about two years, the pollutants could instead access the lower Atlantic layer and thus find their way into the
Canadian Basin, where they have a 10-year residence time.
The Northwest Passage spans the ice-congested regions of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago and the pack ice of the Arctic Ocean found in the adjacent
Canadian Basin (Fig.
This summer-winter difference is likely part of the reason for the negative salinity difference shown for the surface waters of the
Canadian Basin. The salinity increase in the Makarov Basin is comparable to the spatial variability of salinity over the whole upper Arctic Ocean.
