Canary Basin

 

a depression of the Atlantic sea south of the Azores, between the continental slope of Africa and the Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Depths generally range from 5,000 to 5,500 m, with a maximum depth of 6,501 m (according to some data, 6,549 m). The bottom of the basin is mostly covered with abyssal red clay.
