Castle Rocks State Park
Location:In Almo, in south central Idaho, south of Burley.
Facilities:Under development. Primitive camping available at nearby City of Rocks National Reserve.
Activities:Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking, wildlife viewing, rock climbing.
Special Features:Idaho's newest state park, located adjacent to City of
Rocks National Reserve, is a former ranch that includes examples
of early 20th Century ranching structures, irrigated pastures, and
striking scenery. Some of its spires rival those at City of Rocks and
offer exceptional rock climbing. The park also protects some of the
most pristine archeological sites in southern Idaho. Wildlife found
here include mule deer, mountain lion, bighorn sheep, and the state's
first recorded ringtail. Birdwatching is also excellent.
