So direct visualization and
cauterization of offending vessel is a better and cheaper procedure, as in our study.
In the present study we have compared chemical
cauterization of anterior nasal septum with local vasoconstrictor nasal spray for treating cases of idiopathic pediatric epistaxis.
Medical treatment is the most preferred treatment, although
cauterization is gaining popularity in CCh treatment.
Some important methods of stopping the bleeding are: local pressure, nasal packing, topical vasoconstriction,
cauterization and ligation, but there are no definitive protocols for epistaxis management7.
Diagnosis based on frozen section can be difficult depending on the effects of applied treatments,
cauterization or freezing artefacts (Figure 1, 2).
Various treatment modalities include surgical excision, chemical
cauterization, laser resurfacing, electrosurgery and dermabrasion.
Causes of RLN paralysis are severing of the nerve, ligation, traction and trauma due to aspiration, hemostasis or
cauterization.8, 9
After nerve sectioning, a malleable
cauterization microprobe is used for capillary hemostasis and to prevent reinnervation.
In patients with hydrocephalus from other causes, choroid plexus
cauterization (CPC) has been associated with improvement of Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV) outcome compared to ETV alone.
Over the course of 1 month and several visits, the bleeding was stopped temporarily with sutures and
cauterization but recurred after each intervention.
The wound beds were prepared for engraftment by
cauterization to minimize any retained epidermal stem cells.
