Cedar Rapids

 

a city in the central USA, in Iowa; situated on the Cedar River. Population, 110,600 (1974); 163,000 including suburbs. Cedar Rapids is a transportation junction. Industry, which employs 25,000 persons (1972), features the manufacture of radioelectronic equipment and agricultural machinery and food processing, including meat canning and the production of milk. Cedar Rapids is a trade center.
