C21H17O4H A poisonous, crystalline alkaloid, slightly soluble in alcohol; it is derived from the seeds of the herb celandine (Chelidonium majus) and has narcotic properties.

PKC inhibitor chelerythrine chloride ([C.sub.21][H.sub.18]N[O.sub.4]Cl) was obtained from Calbiochem (Bad Soden, Germany), and p42/44 MAPK inhibitor U0126 was purchased from Promega (Madison, WI, USA).
Isoquinoline alkaloids such as coptisine, allocryptopine, protopine, berberine, chelidonine, sanguinarine, and chelerythrine are the main constituents of Chelidonium majus L.
