an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Chernianka Raion, Belgorod Oblast, RSFSR. The settlement is situated on the left bank of the Oskol River, in the Don River basin. It is a railroad station on the Elets-Valuiki line. Chernianka has a sugar refinery, a vegetable-oil mill, a plant that produces butter and dry milk, a meat– and poultry-packing plant, a food-processing combine, an industrial combine, a brickyard, and a grain elevator.
