Chernogorsk

 

a city under oblast jurisdiction in the Khakass Autonomous Oblast, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR. Terminus (Chernogorskie Kopi) of a branch of the Achinsk-Abakan railroad line. Population, 70,000 (1977). Chernogorsk is the center of the Minusinsk Coal Basin. Industry is represented by a motor-vehicle repair plant, a brickyard, an experimental plant for the production of lightweight structural members, a casting and metalworking plant, a plant that produces reinforced-concrete structural members, a prefabricated housing combine, a building-materials combine, a worsted-goods combine, a synthetic-leather combine, a factory for primary wool processing, a garment factory, and a furniture factory. The city has mining and textile technicums.
