Chinju

 

a city in South Korea, in Kyongsang-namdo (South Kyongsang Province), on the Nam-gang, a tributary of the Naktong-gang. Located west of Pusan. Population, 119,400 (1970). Chinju is an important transportation junction, and it is the center of an agricultural region that produces rice, cotton, and tobacco. The city has food-processing and textile industries.
