It was in 1844 that Aaron Palmer's Computing Scale, an 8-inch diameter
circular slide rule, appeared in Boston, followed by a pocket version.
The Skyracer also boasts an official chronometer-certified by the COSC and is self-winding with high-frequency (28,800 vibrations per hour), 38 jewels, 1/4th of a second chronograph, 12-hour totalisers, calendar, water-resistant to 200 metres/20 bars (660 ft), screw-locked crown, bi-directional pinion bezel,
circular slide rule, sapphire crystal and glare-proofed on both sides.
"On the set of Doctors and Nurses there were these kind of
circular slide rule things where you had to put in your weight and your height and it told you what weight category you were in - it told me I was `pre-obese'.
