Cirebon

 

(also Tjirebon, Cherebon), a city and port in Indonesia, on the northern coast of the island of Java. Population, 179,000 (1971). Cirebon is an important transportation junction. The city produces cigars and cigarettes, textiles, leather, building materials, and concentrated phosphorites.
