Clarkia

a genus of herbaceous plants of the family Onagraceae. It is very closely related to the genus Godetia and is often united with it. There are approximately ten species in western North America. These unhardy, showy-flowered annuals, primarily C. unguiculata, C. elegans, and C. pulchella, are used as ornamentals. Many forms and varieties of Clarkia are known; they have either single or double flowers and are distinguished by their color (white, pink, lilac, or red-purple) and height.
