Among the largest condensation plants are those that operate together with steam turbines in steam power plants. Such plants are used to condense the back-pressure steam exhausted from the turbine at a low pressure (of the order of 5 kilonewtons per sq m, or 0.05 kilograms-force per sq cm) and have devices for removal of condensate under vacuum and also for removal of noncondensing gases that enter the condenser with the steam (mainly air, which can leak in through imperfect seals in the vacuum system).
