Contact Lenses

 

lenses that replace eyeglasses and that are placed directly on the eyeball. Made of plastic, they are used for cosmetic reasons, professional reasons (performers, athletes, miners), and optical reasons (severe myopia, aphakia in one eye). The main disadvantage of contact lenses is that they irritate the eyes when worn over prolonged periods of time.
