Cornplanter,, also known as John O'Bail

Cornplanter, (b. Gaiant-wa'ka), also known as John O'Bail

(?1735–1836) Seneca chief; born along the Genessee River in present-day New York. He fought with distinction for the British during the American Revolution and for the U.S.A. during the War of 1812. An accommodationist, in his old age he renounced cooperation with whites.
