Corsican Strait
a strait between the island of Corsica and the Tuscan Archipelago, connecting the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian seas. Width, 75 km; depth, more than 500 m. The cur-rent flows in a northerly direction, with an approximate speed of 1 km per hour. The port of Bastia (in Corsica) is on the strait.
