Crotus, the son of goat-legged Pan, and Eupheme, who nursed the Muses.
In the oldest surviving collection of Greek constellation myths, the Katasterismoi, the anonymous author carefully explained that the Archer was more like a two-legged satyr and identifies him as
Crotus, to whom the Greeks attributed the invention of archery.
