Usually, lead fracture is associated with high impedance, but there have been cases reported with normal impedance in multifilar coil lead fracture resulting from subclavian
crush syndrome. The mechanism behind low impedance was a connection between inner and outer coil [7].
Although this study was performed in surgical units in KwaZulu-Natal, we believe that our findings are applicable to patients with
crush syndrome in other surgical and emergency medicine units across SA.
The conventional access of lead implantation is the subclavian vein, which is often accompanied by high complication rate, including pneumothorax, hemopneumothorax, inadvertent artery puncture, local hematoma, subclavian
crush syndrome, and difficulty in lead operating.[sup][1],[2] Thus, the axillary vein puncture has been proposed as an alternative technique to the conventional subclavian vein access.[sup][3]
Crush injury and
crush syndrome: a consensus statement: Keith Porter and Ian Greaves review the findings of a consensus meeting on crush injury and
crush syndrome held in Birmingham on May 31 2001 and co-ordinated by the faculty of pre-hospital care of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
With the initiation of haemodiafiltration, the BUN and creatinine values made a relative improvement but, on postoperative day 13, the patient was lost to respiratory failure associated with ARDS, which developed secondary to
crush syndrome.
The concept of "double
crush syndrome" states that clinical signs and symptoms of a compression at the distal part of a nerve may be affected by fiber damage at a higher level.
Lo studio si propone anche di confermare la frequente associazione a questa patologia di una double
crush syndrome dell'arto superiore, cioe di una doppia compressione o irritazione di un nervo lungo il suo decorso, analizzandone la prevalenza nel campione in esame.
Rare: Cancer of the Pancreas, Hemoglobinuria,
Crush Syndrome, Melanoma, Alkaptonuria
After inducing
crush syndrome in rats via muscular injections of sugar, Boutaud and colleagues demonstrated that the human-equivalent dose of acetaminophen successfully blocked both of these processes, whether given before or shortly after the injury.
Ezilme sendromu (
crush syndrome): Travmanin yol actigi rabdomiyoliz ve buna bagli olarak ortaya cikan cerrahi ya da medikal belirti ve bulgulari iceren sistemik tablo.
There is also a risk of failure to improve immediately postoperatively as a result of causes other than CTS such as cervical radiculopathy of the C5-C7 (double
crush syndrome) or incomplete release of the transverse carpal ligament (Greenberg, 2006).
Subclavian
crush syndrome is a well-known cause of pacemaker lead failure, namely conductor fractures and insulation failure by compression of the lead between the first rib and the clavicle (8).
