Cryophytes

 

plants that are adapted to cold and arid habitats. Together with psychrophytes they form the basis of the plant cover of the tundra and of the alpine meadows, tali, and rocks of the highlands. Examples of cryophytes are the pulvinate plants of the high deserts of Pamir, Tien-Shan, and Tibet.
