Size: 47,000 acres.
Location:South central Idaho. Accessible by ID 37 and 38. Nearby cities/towns include Malad, Holbrook, Roy, and Stone.
Facilities:Campgrounds, boat launches, scenic drive.
Activities:Camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, swimming, boating, water-skiing, bird watching.
Special Features:Remains of old homesteads, abandoned during Dust Bowl days; 250-acre Stone Reservoir; Hudspeth Cutoff Trail, a route used by California-bound emigrants as a shortcut to the Oregon Trail. The western edge of the grassland is a site where, in early March, male sharp-tail grouse perform their mating "dance."
