A typical high altitude DF cloud-breaking procedure followed is normally followed by combat aircraft. The procedure for transport aircraft is different.
An emergency procedure provided by an ATS (air traffic services) unit with DF (direction finding) capability to an aircraft for a descent through the clouds. The pilot must declare an emergency or accept the service offered, and there must be no other course of action available. Also called QGH, or controlled descent.
