Data Smog

The 1997 book by David Shenk that addressed how information overload from the Internet will make it increasingly difficult to separate fact from fiction. Considering the Internet was commercialized only two years before the book was written, and the amount of information and disinformation on the Web and social media today is exponentially greater than the volume back then, Shenk's prediction has come to pass. See information overload, disinformation and infodemic.
